HRA Development should be delayed until a Master plan is created

To the Editor:

This letter was sent to the select board on March 28: I request that any type of future approval or endorsement on any version of the HRA draft Urban Renewal Plan be postponed until a town master plan has been produced by our new town manager, as specified in the recent job posting.

The other current plans (HPP, OSRP, DCR Master plan, etc.) are not site-specific and based on voluntary development only.

It is unimaginable that the land was given up decades ago just to be replaced with the same concept of having a neighborhood there (plus one large commercial entity).

Given the passionate community feedback received thus far, I respectfully ask for this board to also pause while alternate uses are explored. Please, let us all take a look at the bigger picture before making another historic mistake.
